‘M’ Technique
The “m” technique is a method of light touch designed specifically for use on those who are very fragile when other massage may be inappropriate. Essential oils can also be used in conjunction with this technique to enhance the effects.
Contact through touch is known to have such a huge effect on people. When used in hospitals it is known to dramatically improve the well being of the patient and is renowned for its beneficial effects on the following conditions:
• Fear, anxiety, grief, anger
• Chronic pain, chronic fatigue
• Depression, insomnia, stress
• Low immune function
• Migraines, headaches
When used regularly in conjunction with conventional medicine the comfort level of the patient can be greatly increased resulting in less dependency on medication to control pain. The overall well being of the patient can be significantly improved and lead to a shortened recovery period.
The whole experience is deeply calming and the client is lulled into a deep state of relaxation. As the environment is more relaxed this, in turn makes the visits by friends and relatives more enjoyable.
The “m” technique was created by Dr Jane Buckle for her nurses as a communication tool. Her patients were critically ill, many had breathing tubes and were unable to talk. She felt that positive touch was the way to communicate with her patients. She had trained in massage, but found that was inappropriate. From this beginning she experimented with using very light repetitive stroking movements and developed “m” technique.
